Tazewell- Volunteer Lady-Falcons visited Carl R. Green Gymnasium, Home of the Claiborne Co. Bulldogs, for the Girls 2-AAA District Championship against the Greeneville Lady-Devils (7-1). Volunteer won the tip-off at the start of the game. The ball was spread throughout on the Offensive Side and everyone getting points on the board. Ava Jackson with 4 points, Veda Barton with 2, Jacie Begley with 3, and Emma Houck with 2. Rough start in the 1st Quarter coming from the Free-Throw Line shooting 0/4. Veda Barton having Back-to-Back Blocks, and Ava Jackson with a steal. All tied up ending the Quarter 11-11.
Coming into the 2nd Quarter, Veda Barton with 6 points, 2 from the Free Throw Line, Anna Houck with 5 points, 3 coming from an and-one play, Jacie Begley with 3 points, and Emma Houck with 2 points. Coming in aggressive on the defense with 5 Steals and a Block (2 from Ava Jackson, then one from Emma Houck, Emilee Mailloux, and Anna Houck each, Veda Barton with the Block). The defense winning the Lady-Falcons the quarter with the edge on Greeneville 21-27.
An Absolute DOGFIGHT in the 3rd Quarter and not much happening. Veda Barton with a Steal and 2 Blocks, then the Houck Twins with 2 each. Volunteer taking 2 timeouts from being scoreless for 4 minutes. After the drought, Jacie Begley and Veda Barton each adding 2 points finishing the Quarter 33-35 with Greeneville.
Lady-Falcons turning on the Afterburners at the start of the 4th Quarter, and the crowd bringing in the Hype with them. Emma Houck with 3 points, Veda Barton with 4 points and a Block, Emilee Mailloux shooting 2/2 from the line, Anna Houck with 2 points and a Steal. Greeneville visibly being frustrated using all 4 of their timeouts after Volunteer went up 39-46 with 1:03 left. Greeneville trying to comeback on offense, and Ava Jackson coming in CLUTCH with a Block, and moving that momentum to the offense and Ava scoring a layup as well. Greeneville trying to at least get some points on the board shooting a 3-pointer missing it, and Anna Houck securing the rebound to win the District 2-AAA Championship Game against the Greeneville Lady-Devils!
