Church Hill, TN - The Volunteer Falcon Soccer team brought home their third win of the season bringing their overall record to 3-4 on Monday, April 9th with a hard fought win against West Greene with a Final Score of 1-0.
The first 70 minutes of the game were scoreless until Junior Shawn Cole scored on a squibbed out misplayed corner kick from over 40 yards. With 10 minutes left (actually, 12 counting the added on clock minutes), West Greene fought hard to tie the score and take the game into overtime.
The Falcons worked together as a team. Offensively the Falcons had Peyton Castle, Evan Lukens, and Cameron Cox dominating and consistently shooting the ball to keep the West Greene Goalie moving. The backline was made up of players like DeShawn Booker, Garron Barnette, Nolan Amyx, Shawn Cole, and Goalie Jackson McLain to keep the ball out of West Greene play leaving them scoreless.
Head Coach Jeff Lukens has had nothing but wonderful things to say about this team as he has watched them continue to grow and play harder each game. Falcon Soccer moves into their last 9 games of the season, with the next one being a Twin-Lakes Conference Matchup against the Grainger Grizzlies on Tuesday, April 9th at Home. Gates will open at 5:00pm and the game will start at 6:00pm.
