Volleyball Game 16 article by VSN
Rogersville- The Volunteer Falcons varsity girls volleyball team traveled to Cherokee to take on their cross county rival. The Falcons were able take care of the Lady Chiefs for the second time this season to continue their dominance, sweeping them in sets 3-0 (25-6, 25-16, 25-12).
Lady Falcons improved to an impressive 15-1 on the season. Currently ranked 1st in the district, 6th in their state division, and 42nd overall in the state, there are plenty of things to be excited about with this years squad! Volunteer Sports Network made the trip to Cherokee to watch the game, and this team is perfect. We were able to have a quick word with their head coach, Coach Barton to ask some questions and she confirmed everything we could see and heard from the school and community.
When asked about the team’s motivation and morale, Coach Barton commented; “The team chemistry has contributed to the motivation to play well. The girls have no issues with each other, they play hard for each other.” Team chemistry is always one of the most important aspects of a successful team. Coach Barton also said; ”They trust each other, and always do their best to get better everyday.”
Statistically the Lady Falcons were sound and very effective with everyone contributing well. SR Veda Barton recorded 21 kills and 9 digs. Lily Christian tallied a staggering 41 assists, 3 kills and 9 digs. Chloe Redwine had a great night on defense with 17 digs. Overall this roster is full of stars that all play hard.
The Lady Falcons will be traveling to Gate City and Dobyns-Bennett to return home and take on Unicoi for their final game of the regular season and to celebrate their two seniors, Veda Barton and Jaycee Cassidy. We will be providing live radio coverage at the final home game on Thursday, September 28th.
