Greeneville High School traveled to Church Hill Tennessee to face off the Volunteer Falcons in a 4A Region 1 Match. With the Falcons coming off their bye week, they were looking to get back into action. Although the Greene Devils were playing their second game of the week, you wouldn’t have guessed it. The Devils were continuously pushing throughout the game and Volunteer was unable to stop this run first offense and found themselves trailing early in the first quarter.
Quarterback Jameson Mowell targeted several receivers, but was unable to connect due to dropped passes or pass deflections by the defense. The running back room was able to move the ball efficiently at times, but the penalties and self inflicting wounds continued to hurt the Falcons and force them into long down and distance plays.
We spoke with Head Coach Jesse McMillan before the game and he stated, “they needed to limit the mistakes and keep the ball out of the hands of the Greene Devils”. Unfortunately, the Falcons were unable to get any points on the board. Leaving the score on Senior Night at 56-0.
As always the atmosphere in Church Hill was still electric. Plenty of family and friends in attendance to celebrate the seniors for football, cheer, band, JROTC, cross country, golf and more. We were able to speak with Senior CJ Fraysier after the game and asked him what one of his favorite aspects about this year’s team was. He stated, “Nobody is selfish. They are always trying to help each other and listen to each other to try to get better.”
Join us this week on Thursday, where we will be live broadcasting the Lady Falcons Volleyball Senior Night game against Unicoi in Church Hill. Then on Friday we will be following the Football Team to Jonesborough where they will face David Crockett as the Falcons go after their first win of the season.
