Lady Falcons Reign

Greeneville, TN - The Volunteer Lady Falcons volleyball team traveled to Greeneville High School to participate in the regional tournament. The Lady Falcons, Fresh off a District Tournament Championship win, had goals to bring home the Region Championship as well. The Lady Falcons competed against the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones for the semi-finals to see who would be advancing to the Championship Match against Greeneville.
The Lady Falcons made quick work of the Lady Cyclones as they swept them 3-0 scoring 25-17, 25-20, 25-19. Veda Barton led the team with kills totaling 20. Lily Christian led the teams with 23 assists and 14 kills.
After a short break, the Falcons and Greeneville Lady Devils were up for the Region Championship Match. The Lady Devils played hard and determined that they weren’t going down without at least one win, so after the Falcons won the first set 25-23, the Lady Devils won the second set 25-17. Everyone in the audience was anxiously watching the game as there was no large lead for the remainder of the night. Lady Falcons wound up winning the next two sets 25-19 and 25-19, coming out with a 3-1 Match Score and a Regional Championship Title.
Both teams fought hard and left everything they had on the court. Veda Barton once again led the team with 20 kills, Lily Christian led the team with 35 assists and Chloe Redwine led the team with 28 digs.
Three Falcons took home individual recognitions. Lily Christian and Chloe Redwine were awarded All-Tournament and Veda Barton was awarded Region 1 Most Valuable Player. The
Lady Falcons will move on to host the Sub-State Game in Church Hill on Thursday at 7:00 pm. They will take on Seymour Lady Eagles Volleyball. The winner of that game will advance to the State Tournament next week.
