Volunteer's Boys Season with an Unexpected Ending

Church Hill- The Falcons season came to an end tonight after a loss to Cherokee 65-55. The energy was high on both sides of the ball throughout the night, but the Falcons just couldn’t carry out the win. To start off, Lucas Gilliam had a night with 15 points. He helped the Falcons gain some momentum back by making some important blocks. McLain had 10 points on the night, but 4 of those were scored after the 1st quarter. The game started out close during the 1st quarter, then in the 2nd quarter, the Chiefs took advantage and went up by 13 at halftime. The Chiefs had the rebounding advantage in the first half 24-11 Cherokee. The biggest lead of the night was a 16 point deficit coming from Cherokee. Owen Miller showed up on the defensive side with 3 steals and poured in some on the offensive side with 9 points. Griffin Head swung the ball around getting 6 assists and also getting 5 rebounds. Owen Tullock with 8 points. Tucker McLain, Owen Tullock, and Lucas Gilliam fouled out for Volunteer, while the team totaled up 22 fouls of the night, while Cherokee had 24 team fouls and 2 players fouling out. Colton McLain and Braxton Markham combined for a total of 51 of Cherokee’s 65 points. McLain had 4 steals out of Cherokee’s 7, and Markham had 4 3-pointers out of Cherokee’s 6.
